How to Choose Your Aluminium Windows

Essential Range or Premium Range?

We manufacture two ranges. Both use the same hardware, the same glass options, and both are made to your exact sizes. The difference is in the frame itself.

Essential Range

Built on a 28mm imported aluminium profile. It is the lighter of the two systems and the more affordable, and it suits most domestic work — bedrooms, living areas, and general replacements. Available in four powder-coated finishes: Black, Bronze, Charcoal and White.

Premium Range

Built on a 30.5mm profile, fabricated locally from South African aluminium. The heavier section gives a more substantial frame and handles larger openings more comfortably. Available in five finishes: Black, Bronze, Charcoal, White and Natural.

If you are unsure, the Essential Range covers most homes. Choose Premium where the opening is large, the site is exposed, or you simply want the heavier look.

Choosing Your Glass

Every window is available with four glass options.

All our windows use 4 mm glass as standard. Many ready-made windows sold by the big retailers use thinner 3 mm glass.

• 4mm Clear — the standard choice for most rooms.
• 4mm Obscure — obscured for privacy, typically bathrooms and toilets.
• 6.38mm Clear — laminated safety glass. Stronger, better sound insulation, and it holds together if broken.
• 6.38mm Obscure — laminated safety glass with obscured privacy.

6.38mm laminated glass is worth considering for ground-floor windows, anywhere security matters, or where you want to cut outside noise. South African building regulations require safety glass in certain positions — if you are not sure whether your opening is one of them, ask us before you order.

Hardware

Both ranges use the same branded hardware. Handles, hinges and locking are identical whether you order Essential or Premium. We fit hardware we have used for years and know to be reliable, rather than the cheapest available. A lower price on the Essential Range means a lighter frame, not lesser hardware.

Understanding Our Size Codes

Product names include a short code describing the window layout.

• PT — one opening section
• PTT — two opening sections, stacked
• P4TT — four opening sections

All opening sections are a fixed 590mm by 590mm, and opener columns are always 590mm wide. The overall width and height then determine how much fixed glass sits around them. So a 900mm wide window and an 1800mm wide window have the same size opener — the wider one simply has more fixed glass.

Custom Sizes

Every window in both the Essential and Premium ranges can be made to a custom size. If your opening does not match one of our listed sizes, send us the width and height and we will quote you before anything is made.

Custom sizes usually cost about 5% more than the nearest standard size. Measurements are your responsibility unless we carry out the site measure, so for non-standard openings we recommend booking one. Request a custom size quote.

Lead Times

Stocked items are available immediately. Anything made to order is generally ready within two to four working days, depending on quantity. Larger orders may take longer, and we will confirm timing when you place the order.

Protective Wrapping

Every finished window leaves our workshop wrapped in thick 90-micron protective plastic. The wrap shields the frame and glass from scratches, plaster, cement splashes and paint while building work goes on around it.

Leave the wrap on until plastering and painting are finished, then peel it off. Removing it too early exposes the powder-coated frame and the glass to marks that are difficult to clean.

Each window also carries an Essential or Premium Range label with its window code written on, so every unit can be matched to your order on site.

Supply and Installation

The website is set up for supply. You order the windows, we manufacture them, and they are delivered or collected.

We have also been installing for more than 25 years, and installation is available on request. It is quoted separately, since it depends on the site, the access and the number of units.
